More so cuz I feel like I'm about 15!! lol *sigh* In honor of the 33rd Annual Christie Day festivities, some friends & I went to AC for the night of my B-Day. Had so much fun & even won $80 at Roulette just before we left! lol But it's scary being 2 years closer to 35, I thank God for getting me here, but it's hella scary, scary I tell you!!

Well on the plus side, at least I have a week off from work this week! Had a ton of vacation time to use up so decided to take off the whole week & connect it to the 4th of July holiday so I could have >1 week off total . Not going anywhere far, just doing little things around the city & visiting V & Baby K in Jersey.

I might have said this before, but a few great things about having my B-Day on 7/3: I always get fireworks, I usually get a 1/2 day from work b/c the office closes early, I get a 3-day weekend if it falls on a Fri or Mon lol. Woohoo!

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend! Oh & have fun @work, suckas!! lol hehehe

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Food Poisoning ... Not Fun!

So I had gone to see "Iron Man" last Tue w/some co-workers after work & had dinner beforehand. 1 of the girls & I wound up getting food poisoning later that night (she had it milder than me, I had it pretty bad). The torturous part was that it hit me right when I had gotten on my bus to go home. Which wouldn't have been as much of a problem if it happened closer to home, but my bus ride is anywhere between 45 mins & 1+ hour. That had to have been 1 of the longest bus rides ever!

I was so sick that I was up all night from it, worked from home the next day (thank God my boss gave me that option!), & was still kinda feeling it the next day when I went back to work. My co-worker & I figured out it must've been from some of those tainted tomatoes that have been making their rounds lately, which we both had in our dishes & a hummus thingie they gave us as an appetizer. So I probably had salmonella poisoning, ughhh ...

Funny thing is, in the midst of the sickness, I was a bit delirious & e-mailed the place I ate at to complain. Luckily the manager actually wrote me back apologizing & saying they take such complaints very seriously. But the thing is, he offered to send me a voucher that allows for a free meal. Now why would I wanna go back to the scene of the crime & risk it all again lol? Nice in gesture, but seriously lol! I think I might just use it on drinks lol ...

Side Note: "Iron Man" was awesome! It was done so well & although I find her annoying most times, I actually thought Gwyneth was good in it, too. Robert Downey, Jr. was terrific, & might I add, veryvery yummy? *meowr*

Friday, May 23, 2008

2-Second Commute

Today, my job is doing a Disaster Recovery test of our Remote Access capability & b/c of this, they are asking 50-60% of the company to work from home just for today. I was 1 of the lucky ones picked for this, so I get to work from home today, woohoo!

To add to it, I'm only "on-duty" til 2:30pm b/c we always close early before a major holiday. My 2-second "commute" today involved me rolling out of bed @8:35am & logging onto my PC lol, SHWEEEEET!

I could totally get used to this lol!

Tuesday, April 22, 2008

Spamalot

Saw this Fri night after work & have to say it was HILARIOUS! I think this is my absolute favorite Broadway play ever, it had me in stitches! Tickets were kinda pricey, but totally worth it. I actually have never seen any Monty Python stuff before I saw the show, so I basically went in knowing little to nothing about it. But my curiosity is peeked & I want to watch their old movies soon as I get a chance to.

I actually don't like Clay Aiken much, but I have to say, he was great in this, really funny!

Friday, March 07, 2008

I am a Dork (lol)

2 funny things from the Ski/Snowboarding Trip to Sugarbush last weekend I totally forgot about:

On the drive back, I was enjoying the scenery out the bus window (without my glasses on) & spotted what I thought was a bear. I didn't realize how loudly I said, "Look, a BEAR!" until someone said back, "That's a cow!" & the whole bus roared with laughter lol. Mind you, I only knew 5 of the 50 people on that bus lol. Doh!
The guy who organized the trip had a bunch of snacks for people to take @the front of the bus. On my way back in from a break, I stopped to grab a Rice Krispy treat & overheard a girl I didn't know say she wanted one, too. So I thought I'd be nice & ask her if she wanted me to get it for her, to which she nodded & proceeded to hold out her hands above her head implying she meant for me to throw it to her. So I said, "Go long!" & then wound up throwing it too hard ... & hitting the girl behind her in the face! lol Doh! Everyone was cracking up (once again, I don't know these people! lol) & the girl I hit was NOT happy, even though I apologized profusely lol!

So like the subject line sez: I am a Dork! lol

Speaking of the trip, I am totally obsessed w/snowboarding now lol. I'm thinking if I have a good time @my next trip next wknd, I may do a snowboarding camp @Whistler over the summer. Obsessed I tell you!! lol

Monday, March 03, 2008

Snowboarding

I am officially hooked on snowboarding! I had such a great time trying this out over the weekend & Sugarbush was a great place to test out the waters (er, I mean the snow lol). There was a ton of snow & everything was just so pretty & picturesque. 6 of my friends I went with skiied while 1 of my friends & I tried snowboarding. We took lessons both days, had awesome instructors, & totally got into it. I have to admit, I loved the adrenaline from gliding down the hill (actually, the Bunny Slope lol, that was the steepest for me, especially being a newbie & all). I'm nowhere near perfect & am trying to remember all the new terms I learned, but I happily practiced all the moves taught during the 2 lessons (toe side & heel side J turns, toe side & heel side side slipping, etc).

I'm supposed to try skiing for the 1st time in 2 wks, but I'm thinking I may go w/snowboarding again. If I get good enough, I will probably eventually get my own board & gear & stuff, too ...

But I am soooo sore. Didn't bruise as much as I expected, but definitely sore. It felt cool carrying my board around, they just look cooler than skis, I think.

Side Note:
It sucked bitter a** that my cold kicked in full force during this trip. I had a fever that started @4pm @work on Friday, burned high during the 7+ hour bus ride from the city into VT, came back again the next night when I thought I had kicked it for good, etc. I was sick as a dawg, ughhh ... I rarely get sick *knocking on wood*, like once/year, but the one time I get sick this time was during a mini-vacation, go figure!!

Friday, February 29, 2008

Randomness

It's been awhile since I last blogged! You know what that means? TONS of randomness for all 2 of you readers to enjoy!! lol

Good-bye, Annoying Manager: So Annoying Manager was finally fired a few weeks ago. Turns out for the past few months, it was a plan in the works to terminate her, but upper management couldn't let us in on the plan cuz it was top secret. They finally let her go & I know this is brutally honest of me to say this, but things have been SO MUCH BETTER since then. So a few weeks go by & we're all happily doing our jobs & we do now have a new manager who replaced her who (so far) has been awesome. Today, several people in my department received strange phone calls from some guy claiming to be a headhunter, but he kept asking shady questions like, "Who is the manager for the RFP/Presentations Team?" (very specific, & very phishy AND fishy). We all think that it was Annoying Manager's doing, that maybe she got her boyfriend to make these calls & phish for info for her. We know that she wasn't happy about being let go, but her entire time @my job, she has not done what they hired her to do & basically was so power-trippy & micro-managey that no one liked her (she also took credit for other ppl's work, so not cool!!). GOOD RIDDANCE!!
Crazy Car Svc Guy: I worked late a few weeks ago (I think the day of or after AM was fired) & took a car service home. But since it was on the night of the snow/icestorm we had just before President's Day, there were no cars available from my job's primary car service. So I was forced to use the secondary one, which my co-workers & I universally hate cuz they are nothing but trouble (rude dispatchers, rude/crazy drivers). But they didn't have a long wait + I was beat & just wanted to go home = I called them. I wind up w/a certifiably insane driver who proceeded to ask me the following questions:

When I told him the directions home ("Exit XX on the XXX, I'm right off the exit"), he said, "Are you sure?"
Asked if I was from Havana, Cuba (wtf?? Cuba is so far from Asia + there is nothing Cuban-looking about me lol)
Referred to Chinese ppl as all Asian ppl. When I corrected him & said no, we're all Asians cuz Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, etc are all different races, he turned around & actually said, "Yah, Chinese. You guys all look the same, so you're all Chinese to me." (He was a big Russian guy, btw)
After the Asian conversation, he tried to clarify why he thinks all Asians are Chinese (lol) & said, "It's like God. You know God? And the angles?" *proceeded to make flapping motions w/his arms* - I think he meant angels, but I had no idea what he meant @the time ... & wtf do God & angels have to do w/Chinese ppl?? lol
Randomly told me he was gonna die & has 4 mos to live.
When we were stuck in traffic, he goes, "This is bad. Traffic bad. Helicopter" *makes helicopter sound & twirls his fingers like the chopper's blades*
We were stuck on the outermost right lane of the LIE. There was nowhere right of us to go except straight into the barricade. But he kept trying to veer the car that way anyway, several times, only to turn back & go back to where we originally were.
Asked what I do for work. I said I work in Marketing. He then exclaims/asks that I'm a Professor. lol! (I guess he could've meant Professional?)
Said, "Tell me, why do ladies get married old" lol.
I wound up finally getting my sis on the phone to keep me busy so he wouldn't talk to me. But as we got closer to my exit, I hung up the phone & tried to get his attention by saying, "Sir? Sir? This is my exit. Sir?" But he ignored me (very creepy cuz he was then hunched over the wheel & just kept driving w/o acknowledging me lol. But he did turn around briefly to give me a creepy look & then he turned back & kept driving, almost passed my exit after I told him like 3x that this was my exit. Creeeepy!! Thank God he didn't do anything more than just act creepy!!)

BlackBerry: I caved & got myself a BlackBerry Pearl 8130 (it's so prettyinpink!!! ) I'm the type that said I would never get one, but: (1) My Sprint contract expired & since I've been w/them for almost 10 yrs, I thought now would be a good time to try a new service; (2) I've been hearing Verizon is awesome, so I signed up w/them. They had a promotion w/the BlackBerry Pearl 8130, so I decided to get one; (3) It's pink!! lol. I loooooove it!!!
Snowboarding/Skiing: I'm going snowboarding for the 1st time tomorrow. Headed up to Sugarbush, VT. I was really excited a few weeks ago, but now ... I'M TERRIFIED (but still excited at the same time!) lol!! I guess I'm getting cold feet (pun intended lol). I'm also going skiing for the 1st time 2 wks after this trip, this time to Camelback in the Poconos. I hope I do ok in both! What sucks though is that I'm coming down w/a small cold. I felt slightly feverish before, I'm just worried that it'll hit me when I'm en route to Sugarbush tomorrow.
I'm a Dork: I can't stop laughing at the name of the place I'm going to this weekend: Sugarbush lol!!

Wish me luck this weekend! So I was very skeptical when I heard about Red Mango. My kid sis was raving about it & was telling me to try it. I finally did on Sun night after her b-day dinner (I still can't believe she's 26 now, more so cuz she looks like she's still in HS lol). I LOOOOVE RED MANGO lol!!! It tastes much creamier than Pinkberry, not as tart, low-cal & low-fat, & is a little bit cheaper, too!

And it turns out Red Mango was actually around longer than Pinkberry AND gained a presence in Korea before hitting the US markets in '05 I think.

There aren't too many locations in the US just yet (at least not compared to Pinkberry, which is sprouting like bunnies lol), but there are at least 2 in the city & 1 in Flushing (& lol but they're all across the st from a Pinkberry, their chief competitor). I highly recommend stopping by & trying it!

Friday, January 11, 2008

Spidey the Bachelor

I know I'm totally geeking myself out by blogging about this, but I just read on USA Today that Marvel is doing a new storyline where Spidey & MJ's marriage will be no more.

Back in the day when I was a kid, I was a huge comic book junkie. I was very tomboyish @the time & would ritually go w/my buddies to the comic book store for my fix/es lol. Along w/X-Men, the Fantastic Four, & many many others, Spidey was 1 of my fave storylines. So I actually had the issue where Spidey & MJ got married.

But then I went through my "I'm-too-mature-for-comics" phase & sold them all, lumped into a few plastic shopping bags, to a friend for a supercheap $50 (Something I kick myself for now, cuz if I had held onto them, the entire collection of comics I sold to my friend/neighbor across the st JP would be worth hundreds, maybe thousands, of dollars today! I saw a ton of the ones I used to own on display in the pricier section @Midtown Comics across the st from my job ... Doh!).

So now I want to get my hands on the issue where Spidey & MJ got married, but of course, it's 1 of those rare issues you can't really find so easily nowadays. If only I had kept all my old issues, argh!!

Off-Topic:
I'm going to see "The Little Mermaid" tonight on Broadway. I have very low expectations for it, cuz from what I've been hearing so far, it's so-so. Hopefully it'll at least be entertaining!

Wednesday, January 02, 2008

Happy 2008!

Hope everyone had a great holiday season & that 2008 is a great year!!!
